Ferrensby, North Yorkshire
Jack Lunn (Properties) Ltd
18 New Build Dwellings
We delivered a prestigious 18-home development in Ferrensby, marking Jack Lunn’s return to private housing for the first time since the 1980s. The scheme combined high-spec private homes with shared ownership and rented properties, creating an inclusive, well-integrated community that blended seamlessly into the village’s traditional character.
This milestone scheme included 11 private homes for outright sale The Langthorpe, The Ripley, and The Rigmoor alongside shared ownership and rented dwellings, fulfilling Harrogate Borough Council’s 40% social housing requirement. Affordable homes were ‘pepper potted’ among the private plots to encourage a sense of inclusion for all residents.
To reflect Ferrensby’s architectural heritage, the development featured two handmade brick types from the York Handmade Brick Company (Laddus & Thirkleby), complemented by blue natural slate and antique red clay tile roofs. Locally sourced oak entrance porches added a distinctive character to the homes.
Inside, the properties were fitted with quality kitchens, bathrooms, and en-suites from a Harrogate supplier, along with a premium selection of ceramic tiles. Many plots enjoyed generous south-facing gardens, single or double garages, Marshalls Heritage flag pathways, and Tegula block-paved driveways in burnt ochre.
External works included an adoptable highway built to North Yorkshire Council’s standards, a link footway to a public open space, and landscaped communal areas to be managed by residents.
The project was a resounding success, delivering an inclusive, high-quality development that upheld the craftsmanship and standards synonymous with the Jack Lunn name.
